The Alchemist
This book was very uplifting read. there were so many quotes that I got from it. here are a few that I liked.
- making a decision was only the beginning of things. When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision
- Today I understand something, every blessing ignored becomes a curse
- People need not fear the unknown if they are capable of what they need or want.
- it's only those who are persistent, and are willing to study things deeply, who understand the masters work.
- Don't be impatient, eat when it's time to eat, and move along when it's time to move along.
- You must not let up, even after having come so far. You must love the desert, but never trust it completely. Because the desert tests all men: it challenges every step, and kills those who become distracted
- When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person realize his dream
- It's not what enters into a man's mouth that is evil, it's what comes out of their mouth's that is
- where ever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.
- Life attracts life
- one is loved because one is loved. no reason is needed for loving
- if what one finds is made of pure matter, it will never spoil. If what you find is only a moment of light, like an explosion of a star, you would find nothing on your return.
- there is only one way to learn, it's through action. everything you need to know you've learned on your journey.
- listen to your heart, it knows all things. because it came from the soul of the world. and it will one day return there.
- you'll never be able to escape from your heart, So it's better to listen to what it has to say. that way, you'll never have to fear an unanticipated blow.
- people are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don't deserve them, or that they'll be unable to achieve them.
- every search begins with beginners luck, and every search ends with the victor's being severely tested.
- Don't give into your fear, if you do, you won't be able to talk to your heart.
So, that concludes some of the quotes that I liked, but there are many more!
I know I should put this at the beginning of this post but I was to excited to share the quotes. but the book is about a Shepard boy who has a dream of him and his sheep in a field, and there was a boy who enters the dream and tells the Shepard boy that there is a treasure waiting for him in Egypt near the pyramids. The boy takes him by the hand and just as he is about to arrive the dream ends.
As this dream keeps recurring he finally comes to a city and talks to a gypsy who tells him to follow his dream and go to the pyramids. He then meets a old king who is named Melchizedek, He tells him to also follow his dream and gives him a lot of wise council. He then asks the Shepard to give him 10% of his sheep. He gives him 10% of his sheep the next day and in return the king gives him his Urim and Thummim. Along the Shepard's journey he gets robbed in a town called Tanger which stopped his journey for about a year, during that year he finds a job working as a crystal cleaner/salesman and was able to earn enough money to continue on his journey. He then, goes with a caravan of people to an Oasis where he meets a girl he falls in love with and a very wise Alchemist. The Alchemist teaches him about the desert and how to communicate with nature and read the signs of nature. In the end he does find his treasure and he is truly tested and tried and he does become a victor of his own "Personal Legend."
After having read this book I want to become a better person and follow my own ambitions and become closer to my Heavenly Father and learn to trust in him and follow his guidance. The End!

5 drifting rules in the snow...
the rules...
1. when drifting in parking lots, be alone
2. if you have a island and a curb and your going in between them. go slowly. there may be more ice then you expected. (that's what happened to me and I now have to pay for a new wheel barring)
3. when you crank your e-brake you don't have to keep it on. you crank it, and then you kick out your back end, and then you release your e-brake. you get more control of your slide if you let your e-brake off.
4. when drifting a corner or a line, take it slow at first and then slowly work yourself up until you feel you've found the perfect speed.
5. wear your seat belt! and don't text at in the middle of your drift.
If you follow all of these rules, you'll become a better drifter in the snow and also you'll be able to control a slid out if it ever happens. but you still may get in an accident...

locked out
Now that I was locked out, my thoughts turned more depressing. I had a depressing date, I locked myself out, how much of a loser can I make out of myself now! After thinking about my thoughts I decided to put them aside and try to get in. I take out my drivers license and spend about 3 minutes trying to wiggle my way in. then the thought came to my head,"hey you're ruining you're drivers license." I take out my license and look at it, and sure enough... I chipped it a little bit. I then took out my student card and spent about 7 more minutes trying to get in. after 10 min. I gave up and said,"well, I'll go get my interview and then come back and try again."
I left the door, and got my recommend, then I came back to the door, took out my card, and just had a feeling to stick my card in a different way then what I was trying previously. I stick it in and then BAM! THE DOOR OPENED!!!! I walk in, and celebrate by throwing my hands in the air and yelling,"THANK YOU GOD FOR LOVING ME!!!!!" After my little celebration dance I decided that god loves me despite a bad date, and weaknesses.
THE END

Faith
As a young single adult, my biggest trial is exercising faith during trials in my life. Though my family life is pretty close to perfect, I however, struggle knowing that I’m the only “single” sibling that isn’t married. But out of my step-family, that is not the case. My step-brother Trent is engaged, not married. My other step-sister Hayley, is married with a daughter. My other two step-sisters are Heather who has a boyfriend at 16 years old. And then Ashley who is 15 who is in-fact single! And then I have another step-brother who is also single at 18 years of age.
Being single has caused me to have depression at times in my life. This is almost unbearable at times and causes me more heart-ache than anything else. Depression has driven me to my knees crying by my bed side wondering why I’m on this earth. Why am I going through this trial? And the answer that comes to me most frequent is the scripture, Doctrine and Covenants 121:7 “My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment.” I must admit, sometimes when I’m really frustrated, my comment to that answer is, “you call eight years but a small moment?!” Even after I cry by my bed side sometimes for hours, the lord never leaves me without the feeling of peace.
Why do I bring up my single life as my trial? It is because I’m blessed in mostly every important area in my life. I have a job that will pay my bills, I don’t have a lot of family drama and I can deal with that. And I have a set of friends that I believe will always be there for me. As for school, I do have to work a little harder than most in order to retain information I study, but I’ve learned that as long as I try my hardest the lord recalls to me most of the information I study and I have passed every class I’ve allowed him to help me in. that means, I’ve failed some courses and I have retaken them and have passed them because I have learned that I can’t pass the class without the lord. As school is a constant trial, I know that I will one day graduate and so therefore school I’m not too concerned with. It’s easy to have faith in things you know will come to pass when you know have control over it. But it is the things that you can’t see that it is hard to have faith in.
The things I don’t see includes, who is the girl I’m going to marry for all eternity? I’ve read the Book of Mormon but I’ve never seen the gold plates from where book was translated by. I’ve never seen Jesus Christ or Heavenly Father or the Holy Ghost, but I’ve felt Their presence and Their love for me. And lastly, Is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really the only true and living church upon this earth? These are things that I know I’ll see one day but it has not come to pass. I’ve felt that I will marry in the lords temple one day, I’ve felt that the Book of Mormon is true, and I know that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost do exist. And yet, these are things that I still sometimes lose faith in. I’ve asked myself this question, “why do you lose faith in these things?” The answers come as quickly as I blink.
1. It’s been a while since you’ve prayed and read the scriptures.
2. You’ve been bitter at your past whether it be rejections from girls, or a coach that decided to never look at how skilled you are as a soccer player and cut you from making JV as a freshman and sophomore, and then when you did make JV and Varsity only got 10 minutes of playing time each game. (I’m very bitter about that still!)
3. You stopped serving others and have stopped saying Hi to others (it seems like most of the time I need to say Hi first in order for them to acknowledge that I’m there.)
4. You’ve forgotten your many blessings and forgotten that the lord loves you.
When I lose sight of these four things it usually leads me to depression. It’s straight forward for me to know what I need to do in order for me to be continually happy. I have also noticed another thing. Doing positive things like keeping the commandments, and following church guidelines, will keep the spirit with me so that when depression hits it will not last too long.
Faith will always be a principle that people will gain a testimony in or lose a testimony in. Faith if not continually practiced will cause depression, a loss in the spirit, and can even cause one to take his or her life. Faith if practiced will cause eternal happiness, strength to overcome weakness or trial, find that you qualify for the atonement, and a testimony that Christ loves us so deeply that he suffered both pain and death in order for us to return back to the Father.
For those of us that have entered into the covenant of baptism and for those of us that have made other covenants through the temple, and have also received our patriarchal blessing, The lord has the power to ensure that the covenant we have made with him will be satisfied. It is through our Faith that will ensure that those covenants and promises we have made will be valid in the end.
Through trial and error, I know that faith is the first principle and ordinance of the gospel. I know that exercised faith has the power to get us through lives challenges; it has the power for us to gain a testimony of Jesus Christ and the atonement, to know that the Book of Mormon is true and the Church of Jesus Christ is true. Faith will help us receive answers to our prayers and god will grant those answers in his own due time. Who knows, maybe if we continually exercise faith the shorter the time slot will be for the answer.
Jesus Christ lives and he loves us dearly. He wants us to return back to the Father who also loves us dearly. They love us enough to test us, to try us, in order to help us grow. Without hands on experience we may never know some of the stuff they do. I am grateful for all of gods creations, except flies (besides the fact that they provide food for other insects.) I am grateful that he has a hand in my life to guide me and to help me make good choices that enables me to fulfill the plan he has for me. In closing I know that the atonement is real and we are eligible to receive its grace the moment we decide to take part in it.

summer time!
I have a new job working one on one with kids in a summer program and we take them out into the community and it's been fun thus far. today we saw the movie "Space Monkeys" and I totally did not find it all that great. there were a few parts that I enjoyed but that was just about it.
I hope that I can find some friends that wouldn't mind hanging out with me. I can't wait to see what this summer has in store for me, I just hope that most of it is going to be good and positive.

Then Brody challenged Lobzilla to a dual. Brody then took Lobzilla home. Lobzilla then ate Brody. Ben then killed Lobzilla with a rocket launcher and cooked Lobzilla. Then Jake killed Ben on purpose!
The End

Situation: we couldn't get the TV to turn on
Greg: abracadabra TV COME ON!!! TURN ON!!!

And nuclear reactors started to explode, causing death. But, it made flowers appear in bryants head. Later, Bryant sat on a port-a-potty reading womans choir magazine. He died dramatically and cried. Finally he got milk in his pants and BAM! THE END

Figueira: K, Charlie, come on up for the weather.
Charlie: K, but I don't ever want to talk about Winnie the Poo and how crappy it is!

Figueira: I think i'm a little crazy...
Matthew: I think you're having bad memories Figueira.

Why There is Knowledge of God
First off, God made the earth first before man. When he created man he created a man and a woman. He made himself known to Adam and Eve. God instructed Adam and Eve and gave them instructions and commandments. Because he made himself known, Adam and Eve taught their children about God and his commandments. If god did not make himself known to Adam and Eve they would not have taught their children about god.
Now, lets say god did not make himself known unto us ever. I think we would be brain dead to the world. we would be walking around vegetables or we would be like a wild animal. We would be like caveman. knowing very little but survival skills.
God created us and he has intelligence. He gives us intelligence to us. We have the technology we have because he gave man that intelligence. God gave each person a gift. That is why we Albert Einstein had an amazing intelligence level. That is why we have the knowledge we have about astronomy.
We have knowledge because god gives us knowledge. We know of God because he made himself known unto us. He made himself known unto us so that we can know who we are. We are his children. We can return back to him. That is why we know of God.
Satan distorts man to believing false things, like there is no God. He takes truth and twists it so there is little truth and little lies. If I were to believe a whole truth Satan can distort just a little to make it into a half truth or make a true thing seem false.
The whole truth is... God exists! All things testify of him. That is why God exists!

Work
To start off the new year I got to start off with a new job. Micah my brother was kind enough to hook me up with a job at LogoWorks. It was pretty nice of him to let me work around him. Before I was worked at logoworks, Micah tried to get me to go work for him, but I declined because I loved my job and then they sucked at collecting money and had they had to let me go. So, I was thankful that Micah let me have a job opportunity. Logoworks was fun, but, I sucked at selling. I wanted so bad to do well, and, it never happened. I stayed there for about four months and I had to let it go, due to bad performance and school was breathing down my throat.
After school and quiting my job, I then gave plasma for a good month or two faithfully. I was able to find a job as a waiter at a hotel restaurant and they had to let me go because I didn't perform well and I didn't take the job serious which is true. I also found a job doing soccer camps and that was a blast! During the summer it was hard to earn money and find a good job. The summer was ending and I still didn't have a solid job.
I decided to really look into myself and was thinking about my career options. Since I wanted to be a teacher, I decided to look into a job as a teacher. I found a job as a Teachers Assistant for the special needs program at Timpanogos High School. I'm grateful that I got this job because this is a way for me to start my life and start building my resume. I am thankful that I have a solid job that I am happy at. I've had this job since August and it has been great!
School.
2008 spring semester wasn't my best. I took Biology, English 2010, Math 1010, and Music history. I tried really hard in Biology and failed because I blanked out on each test. English 2010 I failed because my teacher was a terrible teacher and he didn't like me because I constantly argued his points of view and how he was so bad at keeping track of his assignments.
After failing math 1010 last semester I passed this semester and I also had a better teacher. Music theory was easy and it was an easy grade.
2008 Fall I passed all my classes. I took racquetball, ethics and values, English 2010, development of the adolescent. I was so stressed that I wouldn't pass my English class again and also ethics and values. I am glad I passed every one of them and it rocked! I was actually shocked that I passed all of them because I didn't think I had smarts for the classes I took.
For 2009 I am only taking one course and it is Math 1050. I hope I pass this class.
Love Life
I did date and nothing but heart ache is there. I find it hard for me to date, because I fall so fast. I've had a lot of none-committal cuddles. but nothing has worked out. I did find this girl that I still think is amazing, but she doesn't want me in her life, so I don't get to talk to her anymore. She swept me off my feet and I got to kiss her and it was awesome! I went to California to visit her, a 350 dollar investment in a relationship, and I totally got dumped. I'm glad I got to have a good time with her but I'm not the one for her. I did take a girl on a couple dates and she wasn't the one for me because she got married within 2 weeks after our last date. Right now I wish I was actually interested in girls but that's not going to happen for a while.
Activities.
I went to moab for spring break and went jeeping, hiking and camping. I had a blast. I went snowboarding for the first time in my life and loved it. and I took up racquetball and I have progressed in that sport. I also gave a talk to the graduating 2008 class of seminary about institute. That was way cool! I've done some hiking and camping. I've longboarded and had some fun. Oh, went I went to Cali to visit the girl I liked, she took me surfing! Though I wasn't able to get up, I still had a blast!
That is a sum up of this year and I just hope that this year will be better!
